Preparation
Washing:
- Add the green gram to a bowl and rinse 2–3 times to remove dirt and impurities.
- Drain the water completely.
Drying:
- Spread the washed moong on a clean cotton cloth or tray.
- Sun-dry or air-dry until fully dry. Ensure zero moisture before roasting.
Cooking Steps
Heat a thick pan or kadai on low–medium flame.
Add the dried whole green gram and roast for 6–8 minutes, stirring continuously.
Roast until slightly crisp and a light aroma develops. Ensure the dal remains green and does not brown.
Allow the roasted dal to cool completely.
Grind the dal in a mixer grinder to a fine powder.
Transfer the fine powder to an airtight glass.
Store in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness.
