Cooking Steps
Step 1: To prepare Uparghi Laadu Recipe, combine the whole wheat flour, oil and ghee in a deep bowl and knead into a stiff dough adding water gradually
Step 2: Dough should be firm, hard and stiff
Step 3: It should not be soft and sticky
Step 4: Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and make balls out of it
Step 5: Dust a little flour and roll out the dough into a circle of medium thickness like that of a bhakhri
Step 6: Prick with the help of a fork or make small cuts with a knife
Step 7: Traditionally bhakris for this ladoo are cooked on an earthen tawa
Step 8: But if we don’t have one, we can make them on a non stick tava/griddle
Step 9: Heat a tawa and place the bhakri
Step 10: Cook on a low to medium flame from both sides till golden brown spots appear on it
Step 11: While cooking, press it with the help of a flat spoon or spatula
Step 12: Make all the 4 bhakris like this
Step 13: Let them cool down
Step 14: Once it cools down, make small pieces with hands and put them into a mixer jar and grind
Step 15: Once it is coarsely crushed, add jaggery and grind again to make a smooth mixture
Step 16: Take out the mixture in a wide bowl and add chopped bananas to it
Step 17: Mix well
Step 18: Heat ghee in a small pan
Step 19: Now add melted ghee and mix everything well by hand
Step 20: Be sure jaggery and ghee are blended well with the mixture
Step 21: In a greased plate, spread the mixture evenly
Step 22: Sprinkle powdered sugar on it
Step 23: Cut into square or diamond shaped pieces with a knife
