Cooking Steps
Step 1: To make tomato sauce, firstly heat oil in a pan
Step 2: Add chana dal and dry red chillies
Step 3: Turn off the gas after 10 seconds
Step 4: Grind this mixture with coconut and keep it aside
Step 5: Add some more oil to the same pan
Step 6: Add onions and cook till they become soft
Step 7: Now add tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes become soft
Step 8: Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down
Step 9: After it cools down, put it in the mixer with the coconut mixture and grind it
Step 10: After grinding, take it out in a bowl
Step 11: Now add coriander and mix it
Step 12: Now heat the oil in a small pan for tempering
Step 13: Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, dry red mirch and let it cook for 15 seconds
Step 14: Add this tempering to the chutney, mix and serve
Step 15: Serve tomato chutney with idli / dosa or different types of dosa
