Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe, first make the sauce
Step 2: Heat oil in a saucepan
Step 3: Add garlic and onion and sauté till the onion becomes translucent
Step 4: Add crushed tomatoes, salt, sugar, pepper or chilli powder and simmer for 4-5 minutes
Step 5: Add little water if required
Step 6: Take it off the heat and keep aside till required
Step 7: To make the cabbage rolls: Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling salted water for 6-7 minutes, till they are just soft and easy to roll
Step 8: Do not cook them through
Step 9: Drain water and place leaves on a kitchen towel to soak off the excess moisture
Step 10: In a pan, heat oil
Step 11: Add garlic and onion and sauté till the onion becomes translucent
Step 12: Add the carrots and mushrooms
Step 13: Saute for a minute
Step 14: Add rice, salt, herbs, pepper and stir
Step 15: Take it off the heat
Step 16: Place one cabbage leaf on the work surface
Step 17: With a sharp knife cut out the thick part of the vein
Step 18: Add about a tablespoon and half of the rice stuffing in the center of the bottom part of the leaf
Step 19: Starting with the stem end, roll the leaf up tightly, tucking in the sides as you roll
Step 20: Repeat and stuff all the other leaves in a similar way
Step 21: Prepare a steamer
Step 22: Place the cabbage rolls in a Steamer seam side down
Step 23: Steam for about 12-15 minutes or till the leaves are cooked through
Step 24: To serve: Spread some tomato sauce on a serving dish
Step 25: Place the cabbage rolls on it
Step 26: Spread some sauce over each roll
