Cooking Steps
Step 1: To make South Indian Onion Chutney, first of all chop the onion and keep it aside
Step 2: Now heat 1 teaspoon of oil in the pan
Step 3: Add cumin seeds, dry red chillies and let it cook for 10 seconds
Step 4: Now add urad dal in it and let it cook till it becomes golden
Step 5: Turn off the gas and drain in a bowl
Step 6: Add another spoon of oil to the same pan
Step 7: Add onions and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes
Step 8: Turn off the gas and let it cool down
Step 9: Now put urad dal, cumin and dry red chillies in the mixer grinder and grind them
Step 10: Add cooked onions, tamarind and jaggery
Step 11: Add some water and grind it
Step 12: Now for the tempering, heat the oil in a small pan
Step 13: Add mustard seeds and curry leaves
Step 14: After 10 seconds, add it to the chutney and mix
Step 15: Serve South Indian onion chutney with masala dosa or ghee dosa for a tsunag breakfast
