Ingredients
Whole Masoor Dal (Raw)
0.5 cup (100g)
Chopped Onion
1 small cup (80g)
Chopped Tomato
1 cup (200g)
Cumin seeds
1 tsp (5g)
Clove Garlic, Chopped
2 tsp (10g)
Ginger, fresh
1 tsp grated (5g)
Turmeric powder
0.5 tsp (2.5g)
Red chilli Powder
1 tsp (5g)
Sunflower oil
1 tsp (5g)
Common salt
0.5 tsp (2.5g)
Fresh Coriander Leaves (chopped)
1 tbsp (5g)
Plain Water

Instructions
Cooking Steps
Rinse the brown lentils in cold water and soak them for 30 minutes. Drain the water and set them aside.
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn translucent.
Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for another 1-2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.
Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Stir well.
Add soaked brown lentils to the pressure cooker along with water. Mix well.
Close the pressure cooker with a lid and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles over medium heat.
Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
Open the pressure cooker and check if the brown lentils are cooked. If they are not cooked, add some more water and pressure cook for another whistle.
Once the brown lentils are cooked, garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
