Ingredients
Rice, raw, milled

Yellow Moong Dal (Raw)

Instructions
Preparation
Wash rice and lentils thoroughly under running water to remove dirt and excess starch.
Soak the rice and dal together for 30 minutes to ensure faster cooking and easier digestion.
Cooking Steps
In a saucepan, add the soaked rice and dal, and water.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice, dal are soft and mushy. Stir occasionally.
Allow the cooked khichdi to cool to a lukewarm temperature.
Blend the cooked khichdi into a smooth puree using a blender. For older infants, you can mash the khichdi instead to retain some texture.
Serve fresh and warm as a standalone dish.
