Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Old Fashioned Bread Pudding Recipe, preheat oven to 150 C and place rack in center of oven
Step 2: Grease a 10 x 10 square baking dish with butter
Step 3: Place the cut bread cubes into the baking dish and sprinkle fruits or nuts- apples, walnuts and mixed dry fruits of your choice at this stage over the bread cubes
Step 4: In a large bowl whisk the eggs and sugar on high speed until thick and fluffy
Step 5: Beat in the vanilla extract; ground cinnamon, melted butter and milk/cream until well combined and fluffy
Step 6: Pour the prepared custard over the bread cubes until completely covered
Step 7: Press down the bread cubes with a fork so the custard seeps into the nooks and crevices of the baking dish so they are covered fully with the custard
Step 8: Note that the pudding mixture is going to be cooked in a water bath
Step 9: Place the bread pudding dish on the roasting pan
Step 10: Pour in enough hot water into the roasting pan so that the water is halfway up sides of the baking pan with the pudding mixture inside it
Step 11: Bake for about 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
Step 12: Once done, cool slightly and serve warm
Step 13: This pudding can be served cold as well
