Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Muttaikose Poriyal Recipe/ Purple Cabbage Poriyal, get the cabbage chopped or sliced and the rest of the ingredients ready
Step 2: Place the purple cabbage in pressure cooker, add 2 tablespoon of water and pressure cook for 1 whistle and turn off the heat
Step 3: Release the pressure immediately, to avoid over cooking the cabbage
Step 4: Heat a teaspoon of oil a heavy-bottomed pan on medium heat
Step 5: Add the mustard seeds and urad dal
Step 6: Allow them to crackle
Step 7: Roast the urad dal until it gets lightly browned
Step 8: Once the dal is golden brown and crisp, add the curry leaves, green chillies, purple cabbage and salt to taste
Step 9: Give the Purple Cabbage Poriyal a stir and saute for a couple of minutes and turn off the heat
Step 10: Once done, add the grated coconut, give the Purple Cabbage Poriyal a mix and check the salt and adjust to suit your taste
Step 11: Add more coconut if required
