Instructions
Cooking Steps
Rinse the brown rice and masoor dal in water and soak them separately for 30 minutes.
In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
Once the cumin seeds start to splutter, add the chopped onions and green chili. Saute until onions turn translucent.
Add ginger paste and garlic paste. Saute for a minute until the raw smell goes away.
Add the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes until the tomato turns mushy.
Add the soaked brown rice and lentils to the cooker and mix well.
Add water and give it a good stir.
Close the pressure cooker lid and cook on high flame for 3 whistles.
Let the pressure release naturally. Once the pressure is released, open the lid and give it a stir.
Serve hot with a garnish of fresh coriander leaves.
