Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making Maheri, heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker
Step 2: Once the ghee is hot add hing, cumin seeds and allow the seeds to crackle
Step 3: Once they starts crackling, add turmeric powder
Step 4: Add 2 cups of water and salt and bring it to boil
Step 5: Once the water starts boiling add buttermilk and bring it to boil again
Step 6: Now add the barnyard millet and mix well
Step 7: Cover the pressure cooker and turn the heat to low
Step 8: Pressure cook for 2 whistles
Step 9: Let the pressure release naturally and then open the pressure cooker
Step 10: Transfer the Maheri to a serving dish and serve
Step 11: Serve Maheri as a healthy breakfast with pickle or Green Chutney for a comforting breakfast
