Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Kongunadu Style Arisi Paruppu Sadam Recipe, wash the rice and dal together
Step 2: Soak the dal in water for at least 30 minutes
Step 3: Heat a pressure cooker, add ghee or oil lower the flame, add cumin seeds and fennel seeds
Step 4: Allow it to sizzle for few seconds
Step 5: Add curry leaves and allow it crackle for few seconds
Step 6: Add dry red chillies and saute for few seconds
Step 7: Add pound garlic and saute till they soften
Step 8: Add onions and sauté till they turn translucent
Step 9: Once the onions are caramelized and add tomatoes and sprinkle little salt and cook till they turn mushy
Step 10: Add all 4 spice powders, stir and mix it well
Step 11: Add soaked rice and dal after draining the water
Step 12: Mix the rice and dal until the masala coats evenly on it
Step 13: Add about 5 cups of water and salt to taste and pressure cook for at least 3 whistles
Step 14: Once the pressure releases, open the lid and give it a mix
Step 15: Sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves on top and serve hot
Step 16: Serve the Kongunadu Style Arisi Paruppu Sadam Recipe along with Pavakkai Poriyal Recipe and Puli kuzhambu by the side to make it a complete meal
