Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Karwar Style Khatkhate Recipe, wash and pressure cook toor dal with a pinch of turmeric for 2-3 whistles
Step 2: Once cooked, mash it well and keep aside
Step 3: Dice the vegetables and cook them with enough water in a pressure cooker for one whistle
Step 4: Turn off the flame and immediately release the pressure
Step 5: They should just be cooked
Step 6: make sure you don't overcook them
Step 7: Meanwhile, grind coconut, red chillies, coriander powder and turmeric powder with little water to a smooth paste
Step 8: Add sichuan pepper and grind the paste again for few more seconds
Step 9: When the vegetables are almost done, add ground coconut paste and mashed toor dal
Step 10: Add salt, kokam and jaggery
Step 11: Mix everything well and bring to boil
Step 12: Finally prepare the tempering for the curry
Step 13: Heat oil in a kadhai
Step 14: Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves
Step 15: Cook for about a minute and then pour it on Khatkhate
