Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Kala Chana Chaat Recipe, wash and soak the kala chana overnight
Step 2: Add the soaked channa in a pressure cooker
Step 3: Discard the water it was soaking in and add half a cup of fresh water and salt to taste
Step 4: Close the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 6 whistles, turn down the heat and continue to cook for 5 more minutes
Step 5: Turn off the flame
Step 6: Allow the pressure to release naturally
Step 7: Once the pressure has released, drain the water if any and transfer the chana into a mixing bowl
Step 8: In the same mixing bowl, combine pomegranates, boiled potato, tomato, onion, green chili, red chili powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, black salt, amchur, 2 tablespoons of dhaniya pudina chutney and 1 tablespoon of tamarind chutney and lemon juice along with the kala chana
Step 9: Toss well
Step 10: Alternatively, if you wish to skip the green chutney and sweet chutney, you can go ahead and toss the salad with all the other ingredients
Step 11: Adjust the spices and salt to your taste and preference
Step 12: Garnish with Sev and serve
