Cooking Steps
Step 1: Soak Channa dal in water for about 8 hours or over midnight
Step 2: Drain water completelyGrind dal into a fine paste with green chilies
Step 3: Ensure not to add water to grind the dal
Step 4: Heat oil in a kadai
Step 5: Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and cumin seeds
Step 6: Allow it to splutter
Step 7: Once they splutter, add asafetida and turmeric leaves
Step 8: Saute well
Step 9: Now, add grounded dal to the kadai
Step 10: Season with salt and sugar
Step 11: Saute them on medium heat continuously for about 10 minutes without the lid
Step 12: Cook until the mixture looks dry
Step 13: The dal might get stick to the bottom
Step 14: Hence, ensure to stir them continuously
Step 15: Once the dal is dry and looks like crumble, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and drizzle lemon juice on the top
Step 16: Prepare this Malvani Vatli Dal and serve as an evening time snack or as a side dish with Phulka and Gobi Ke Kofte
