Ingredients
Raw White Rice
0.5 cup (100g)
Split Urad Dal (Raw)
0.5 small cup (50g)
Green Peas
100 gm (100g)
Red Onion
0.25 cup, chopped (50g)
Chopped Tomato
0.25 cup (50g)
Common Salt
0.25 tsp (1.5g)
Plain Water
0.25 small glass (50g)
Olive Oil
2 tsp (10g)
Instructions
Preparation
For batter:
-Soak rice and urad dal separately for 4–5 hours.
-Drain and grind each to a fine paste, mix together with water to make a smooth batter.
Add salt and ferment for 8–10 hours or overnight.
Boiling green peas:
-Rinse green peas, boil water with 1/4 tsp salt add green peas boil for 5–7 minutes.
-Drain and set aside.
Cooking Steps
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Grease it with a little oil or cooking spray.
Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin uttapam. Sprinkle some cooked green peas, onion, and tomato over the uttapam.
Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the uttapam. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.
Flip the uttapam and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes until cooked through.
Repeat with the remaining batter and toppings.
Serve hot
