Instructions
Cooking Steps
Rinse the green moong dal and rice together in cold water until the water runs clear.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
Add chopped tomatoes, carrots, capsicum. Mix well.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add the rinsed green moong dal and rice. Mix well.
Add 2 cups of water and stir to combine.
Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles or until the khichadi is cooked and the green moong dal is soft.
Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and give the khichadi a quick stir.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
