Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Doi Bhetki Recipe, clean and wash fish pieces well
Step 2: Add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon red chili powder and salt to taste
Step 3: Rub this spice mix well on both sides of the fish
Step 4: Cover and marinate for 30 minutes
Step 5: Grind onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic into smooth paste adding little water using a mixer grinder
Step 6: Heat oil in a wide pan for deep frying
Step 7: Fry few pieces of fish at a time on medium flame on both sides
Step 8: Remove the fish from the pan and drain in on paper towel
Step 9: Now, add 2 tablespoon of the same oil in which fish was fried into a heavy bottomed pan
Step 10: Add cloves, cardamom and bay leaf
Step 11: Add the onion-chilli-ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell of the paste is gone
Step 12: It will take about 10 to 15 minutes
Step 13: Now add all the spice powders including turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, black pepper powder into the pan and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes
Step 14: Add 1 cup water, mix well and bring it to boil
Step 15: Now add whisked yogurt, salt to taste and mix again
Step 16: Bring it to boil on high flame
Step 17: Simmer and cook for 10 minutes
Step 18: Add fried fish into the curry and cook for another 5 minutes
Step 19: Turn off flame and serve hot
Step 20: Serve Doi Bhetki Recipe along with hot Steamed Rice and Begun Bhaja for a perfect and satisfying weekday meal
