Cooking Steps
Step 1: To begin making the Dal Banjara Recipe, add all the ingredients into the pressure cooker including black urad dal, chana dal, ginger, green chilli, tomato, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, turmeric powder, garam masala powder
Step 2: Add 2-1/2 cups of water and pressure cook the dal for two to three whistles
Step 3: After two whistles, turn the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes and turn off the heat
Step 4: Once the pressure is released completely, open the cooker and your dal is ready
Step 5: Check the salt and spices and adjust to suit your taste
Step 6: Transfer the dal to a serving bowl
Step 7: The next step is to make the tadka
Step 8: Heat ghee in a small pan, add the cumin seeds and red chilies
Step 9: Allow them to roast and crackle
Step 10: Once done, turn off the heat and pour the seasoning over the dal
Step 11: Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
Step 12: Serve Dal Banjara along with Phulkas, Bhindi Masala and Tomato Onion Cucumber Raita for a weekday meal
