Step 1: To make batata nu shak, first heat oil in a pan

Step 2: Add mustard seeds, cumin, cinnamon and let it cook for 30 seconds

Step 3: Add asafetida, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger, tomato puree and let it cook for 2 minutes

Step 4: Now add coriander powder, garam masala powder, potato, salt, black salt and 2 cups of water

Step 5: Allow to boil and then cover the pan

Step 6: Let it cook for 15 minutes or until the potatoes are soft

Step 7: After cooking, mash some potatoes to make the gravy thicker

Step 8: Garnish with green coriander after cooking and serve

Step 9: Serve batata nu shak with boondi raita and puri for dinner
