Introduction
Kaada, green smoothies, turmeric milk, and immunity-boosting supplements have been an integral part of our lives since the beginning of 2020. The pandemic highlighted how pivotal it is to look after your health, especially for office-goers and working professionals. If you work alongside 100 people in an office or go out for a corporate party with all of your colleagues, you have to make sure that in this day and age, your immunity is at the top of its game. Food delivery applications like Zomato and Swiggy and a lot of cult restaurants have seen a sudden surge in the demand for healthy food options. In fact, these food delivery applications have also included a “healthy” category for health-conscious people who want to only have nutritious food.
Indian consumers are willing to spend more on fitness classes and activities, consuming natural foods, health supplements, and following specialized diets with the COVID-19 pandemic creating 'the biggest seismic shift' taking health and immunity to the center stage, according to a survey by consultancy firm EY India. European and Asian nations have adopted functional foods and supplements, but the Indian consumer is still predominantly showing a preference for "better for you" foods and home remedies, the survey states.
