Ingredients
Raw White Rice
0.5 cup (100g)
Split Urad Dal (Raw)
0.5 small cup (50g)
Green Peas
100 gm (100g)
Chopped Tomato
0.25 cup (50g)
Common Salt
0.25 tsp (1.5g)
Plain Water
0.25 small glass (50g)
Instructions
Preparation
Soak rice and urad dal separately in water for 4-5 hours.
Drain the water and grind the rice and urad dal separately to a fine paste. Mix them together in a bowl and add water as needed to get a smooth, pourable batter.
Add salt and mix well. Let the batter ferment for 8-10 hours.
Rinse green peas in water.
Add water to a pot.
Bring water to a boil.
Add peas and 1/4 tsp salt.
Boil for 5-7 minutes or until tender.
Drain excess water.
Cooking Steps
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Grease it with a little oil or cooking spray.
Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin uttapam. Sprinkle some cooked green peas and tomato over the uttapam.
Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the uttapam. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.
Flip the uttapam and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes until cooked through.
Repeat with the remaining batter and toppings.
Serve hot
