Instructions
Preparation
-Wash brown rice and soak for 30 mins
Cooking Steps
Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add garlic-ginger paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the raw smell goes away.
Add chicken pieces and cook until they turn white on the outside.
Add chopped tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
Add plain yogurt and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
Add the rinsed and drained brown rice to the pot and mix well with the chicken and spices.
Add water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
Cook for 30-35 minutes until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Fluff the biryani with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
