Instructions
Cooking Steps
Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
In a pressure cooker, heat 1/2 teaspoon of oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion turns translucent.
Add chopped tomato and cook for 2-3 minutes until the tomato turns mushy.
Add turmeric powder and red chili powder. Stir well.
Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pressure cooker. Mix well.
Add 1.5 cups of water and salt. Stir well.
Close the pressure cooker and cook on high heat for 4-5 whistles.
Let the pressure release naturally.
Open the pressure cooker and mix the dal well.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
